I no longer know how to explain to those who ask that where I come from everything is demanding, vast, overwhelming, violent, raw and loud—I suppose whe must live dimension rather than explain it. Sao Paulo you took away my innocence but spared me from any kind of lameness thank you for making me wild. Sao Paulo few refuges (analog and digital photography) is a years-long WIP series born from my relationship with my hometown—a relationship that is visceral and dialectical, at times a laboratory of suffering and as a laboratory of thril. Only when I moved away from Sao Paulo I became aware of territory's sociological magnitude as a identity marker and an index of experiences. Through images that relate the frenzy alongside others that seem to capture a moment of pause amidst the city's caos, through this visual research I seek to understand which contents and aesthetics experiences have formed—and continue to form—my own identity construction as a body vulnerable to Sao Paulo's relentlessness: its long distances, disorder, impulses and intensity.
